BreezeCOM Exhibits First User-Installable Residential Broadband Wireless Access Product
Plug-and-play subscriber units revolutionize wireless business case Las Vegas - March 20, 2001 - BreezeCOM, a leader in the design and manufacture of high-speed wireless access solutions, will show at CeBIT 2001 the first truly plug-and-play subscriber unit. Continuing in its tradition of driving wireless innovation, BreezeCOM has succeeded in meeting the technological challenges involved in the design of a high-power, low-cost, low maintenance, user-installable subscriber unit. BreezeACCESSÔ delivers a feature-rich solution that is revolutionizing the wireless access business case around the world.
The new BreezeACCESS Residential Subscriber Units (SU-R Series) allow operators to deliver customer premises equipment (CPE) to subscribers without sending professional installers to customer locations. A "truck roll" is the most significant expense in the client provisioning process. Removing this requirement will save operators hundreds of dollars per subscriber and virtually rewrite the operator business case for deploying wireless technology. The provisioning process becomes as easy as sending the subscriber unit to the customer via post or courier. The customer simply powers up the unit and configures it with the user-friendly software utility enclosed on CDROM.
Unlike conventional designs where multiple units are required - an indoor unit to interface with the customer data and voice equipment and an outdoor unit that contains the radio and antenna - BreezeACCESS consists of a single, compact unit that fits easily on a desk or wall mount. And because it is wireless, there is no lengthy and expensive installation process, no need to drill holes in exterior walls to accommodate cabling and no need to mount unsightly radio equipment or antennas on the roof or side of the home.
BreezeACCESS utilizes advanced Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum technology and is optimized for high-speed data and toll-quality voice communications. These miniature units support a wide range of features including, extensive filtering, VLAN, CIR/MIR, privacy protection and incorporate an SNMP agent and Radius client. Ruggedized for the residential environment, the BreezeACCESS Residential Subscriber Unit incorporates a dual antenna design to provide diversity and overcome propagation concerns typical to urban settings.
Equipment management and maintenance are other key areas where BreezeCOM is making the difference. Nearly all customer equipment available on the market today requires complicated on-site configuration involving a highly skilled technician being sent to each location. BreezeACCESS enables service providers to manage and reconfigure customer units remotely, virtually eliminating these costly expenses. And because these services can be handled without having to roll a truck, customer response time is greatly enhanced - significantly increasing efficiency, improving customer service and reducing recurring maintenance costs.
