AlphaStar@Home
- Residential Wireless Broadband
Hybrid System - How it WorksAlphaStar's technology is a hybrid internet broadband delivery
system. It is an all wireless network from the point of origin to the end user. Our two
technologies are not new individually, however we have been able to successfully integrate
global satellite coverage with wireless local access and offer a new, fast and cutting
edge technology. This is how AlphaStar can offer you the newest and fastest delivery system to
the Internet. Our technology will be of particular interest to those presently limited to
very expensive connections or those restricted to slow, traditional dial up access.

The AlphaStar Hybrid Network
Why Satellites?
AlphaStar uses satellite technology that resolves the
limitations of access to fiber, coax or other types of media backbones. The Internet data
is actually brought into the AlphaStar Teleport, then beamed up to the satellite. The
satellite then sends the signal to a tower or dish located on the ground. Satellites know
no geographical boundaries. Currently, the entire globe can be reached via satellites.
AlphaStar not only uses satellites because of their ability to broadcast anywhere, but
they are also economical, faster to implement and can serve more diverse needs. These
satellites can also multicast, thus allowing service to be offered to many more people.
Why Fixed Wireless?
Local fixed wireless access is one of the
fastest growing sectors of the telecommunications industry. AlphaStar uses wireless
technology from the ground tower to the user, all without the limitations of costly fixed
wire networks. Network managers can set up or augment networks without being concerned
with the adds, moves and changes or other high cost limitations. In addition to lower
costs, fixed wireless also offers further advantages such as mobility, flexibility,
scalability and speed of installation.
Why a Hybrid Network?
As AlphaStar marries these two technologies,
they are able to offer one high speed, sophisticated network, which gives the Internet
user, you, the best of both worlds. This hybrid technology not only helps avoid access
bottlenecks (i.e. The "World Wide Wait") but also offers effective bandwidth
management and utilization, ease of installation, lower cost to subscribers and the
elimination of unattractive satellite dishes from roofs.
This technology not only offers high speed Internet access,
but it is reliable and more affordable than cable modems and DSL.
