GREENWICH, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 2001--AlphaStar International will provide this week 2-way satellite high-speed Internet access, telephony and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) to businesses, institutions and office buildings affected by the terrorist attacks in New York City. AlphaStar also offers to donate these services to rescue organizations.
Some of the landline telecommunication infrastructure was damaged as a result of this despicable attack, and it will take time before it is restored. Even after the landline infrastructure is restored, it will be necessary to provide redundancy to protect access and networks against all future interruptions. Satellite broadband and telephony offers an immediate solution without waiting for repairs or for the need to dig the streets under the most trying circumstances. AlphaStar's satellite broadband and telephony services can be deployed within days or hours by simply installing a small satellite dish on a building or using a mobile vehicle. AlphaStar avoids local loops and eliminates the dependency on fiber and phone companies.
AlphaStar provides access up to 36 Mbps or higher with as many phone lines as needed. AlphaStar utilizes Ku band satellites and provides Bandwidth on Demand (BOD) or dedicated bandwidth. Broadband access, telephony and VPN can be provided by AlphaStar as a ``bundle'' or separately. Also AlphaStar will custom design redundancy for access and data storage for safekeeping at AlphaStar teleport in Oxford, CT and other locations.

The technology for telephony and VPN is provided by Cisco Systems among others.
